Financial aid worth more than 40-thousand dollars has been distributed to dozens of fire victims who lost their belongings in recent fires. The donations came from the Community Development Department and the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation. The money from the Community Development Department was handed over to the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Major General Retired Pehin Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Mohammad. Eight heads of family received a total sum of thirty-four thousand and one hundred dollars. At the event, the Managing Director of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation, Dato Paduka Haji Ali Hashim presented a total amount of twelve thousand and one hundred dollars to the same heads of family. The function took place Tuesday at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The fire incidents occurred in separate villages in Brunei's four districts between August and October this year. Some 53 members of families were involved in the incidents. Some have to stay temporarily with their relatives, while a few still occupy their partially damaged houses. |
