On August 30, 2023, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa on his reelection as President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Zimbabwe enjoy a traditional friendship. In recent years, under the joint guidance of the two presidents, the two countries have continuously deepened political mutual trust, achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation, and firmly supported each other on issues involving their respective core interests and major concerns. Xi Jinping said that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Zimbabwe relations, and stands ready to work with President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa to achieve new progress in the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries, and safeguard international fairness and justice as well as the common interests of developing countries.
