Premier Li Keqiang Meets with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and Members of the Royal Family of Brunei and Addresses the Welcome Banquet by Sultan of Brunei

On the evening of 10 October 2013, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council met at the Royal Palace of Brunei with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and major members of the royal family, attended the welcome banquet held by Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and delivered an address.

During the meeting, Li Keqiang conveyed the cordial greetings from President Xi Jinping to Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and spoke highly of the contributions made by the royal family of Brunei to promoting China-Brunei relations. Hope both sides will further deepen bilateral strategic cooperation through the visit to unceasingly carry forward China-Brunei friendship.

When addressing the welcome banquet, Li Keqiang expressed congratulations for Brunei successfully holding the Meetings of East Asian Leaders and appreciated Brunei as the holder of the rotating presidency of ASEAN for the efforts to push for the development of China-ASEAN relations. He expressed that both countries are now in a critical period of development with broad space of cooperation. China is ready to keep close communication with Brunei and to join hands for cooperation so as to promote prosperity, stability and development of the two countries as well as of the region.

Haji Hassanal Bolkiah asked Li Keqiang to convey the cordial greetings to President Xi Jinping, expressing that Brunei and China are partners of long-term friendship and that China’s development not only benefits both peoples, but also the whole region. Brunei is ready to work with China to push for greater development of Brunei-China relations and of ASEAN-China relations.

The members of the royal family of Brunei, cabinet ministers, Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces and major generals of the three services of military forces, social celebrities, foreign Ambassadors to Brunei and others were present.
